Live Like a Local in This Elegant Boston Townhouse.

The Whitney is a 65-room luxury boutique at the corner of Charles and Cambridge Streets in Boston’s historic Beacon Hill. Set in a 1909 brick townhouse, its name pays homage to Henry Melville Whitney, a famed Boston industrialist and former owner of the property.

Don’t let its historic exterior fool you; its interior has been thoughtfully renovated to resemble your best friend’s elegant Boston townhome. Think: exposed red brick in all the right places, tall floor-to-ceiling windows with tons of natural light and playful oversized portraits on the walls.

From its library-esque lobby, complete with bookshelves and a gas fireplace, to its attentive yet unfussy service, The Whitney offers an elegant yet cozy home-away-from-home. It’s refined luxury at its best.

Despite being located at the foot of the Longfellow Bridge and across the street from Massachusetts General Hospital, you’ll sleep like a baby at The Whitney. Rooms are fully soundproofed with blackout shades and the most comfortable WRIGHT mattresses—seriously, you might order one as soon as you get home. Frette linens, organic Grown Alchemist bath amenities, a Nespresso coffee maker and a curated minibar featuring locally distilled spirits complete the bespoke luxury vibe. Turn down service includes bite size sea salt caramels though you can also find complimentary Tate’s Cookies down the hall in the WHIT Pantry located on each floor.

If you plan to hole up in your room, book a Charles River Corner King for extra square footage and large windows overlooking the water.

Peregrine is the hotel’s all day restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily in addition to brunch on weekends. The menu is coastal Mediterranean with heavy influences from Corsica and Catalonia. Expect plates like garlic gulf shrimp with anchovy and sherry vinaigrette, Catalan tomato bread with jamón serrano and Sicilian chickpea cake with roasted provolone. There’s also complimentary nibbles from 4-6pm every evening, which you can enjoy either at the bar or in the courtyard by the fire pit.

If you decide to stroll the neighborhood, which you absolutely must, take note of The Whitney’s neighborhood passkey program. The Whitney has paired with local Charles Street merchants to offer discounts and treats to hotel guests, such as 20% off scoops at local favorite J.P. Licks and 15% off clothing at Covet, among others.

On a nice day, pick up ficelle sandwiches stuffed with house smoked ham and swiss next door at Savenor’s Butcher Shop & Market before heading over to Boston Common for a picnic. Too cold? Warm up with a latte and roasted strawberry tea cake at Tatte Bakery before browsing the selection at Beacon Hill Books.
